Accreditation

The SGL was the first laboratory in Cyprus to implement strict quality criteria through a Quality Management System. The initial accreditation was granted on 10/06/2002 by the Greek Accreditation Body ESYD according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and from Cyprus Accreditation Body (Accreditation Certificate Number L070-2) CYS-CYSAB on 15/4/15 when the transition to (CYS-CYSΑΒ) became official.

The main targets of Accreditation are:

· to produce reliable laboratory data on a continuous basis
· to provide to the users of analytical data (i.e. decision and policy-makers and generally to all SGL customers) guarantees on the reliability of the provided data.

All the SGL Laboratories are accredited according to the above mentioned EU/International Standard, fixed and/or flexible scope. The details about the accredited methods per laboratory as well as the fields covered can be found in the CYS-CYSAB Webpage (Accreditation Certificate Number L070-3).

Within the scope of the accreditation, the Accreditation Body evaluates both the compliance to the requirements for administration procedures and the technical capacity of the personnel and equipment, which are constantly extended. It also provides official and international recognition for the conduct of specific analyses as required by the National and the Union legislation.

The main elements of the Quality Management System are intralaboratory (internal) and interlaboratory (external) control as well as the relevant documentation.

The interlaboratory controls are carried out by participation of the SGL in common international Proficiency Testings, organised by authorised accredited external bodies, with other laboratories at European or International level. The participation and evaluation of the SGL has been successful. This guarantees recognition of the reliabilty of the laboratory reports which accompany the exported local products. Furthermore, the constant improvement, morale, zeal and devotion of the personnel is reinforced.
