Food Safety in Cyprus


    ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ


    In Cyprus, food and feed safety is implemented in accordance with the EU legislation framework.

    The legislation is enforced as follows:
    (a) regarding (i) foodstuffs of non-animal origin at all stages of the food chain, except primary production (field level) and (ii) food of animal origin at the retail stage: Public Health Services of the Department of Medical Services and Public Health Services Health is responsible,
    (b) regarding foodstuffs of animal origin at all stages of the food chain other than the retail stage: Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment,
    (c) regarding (i) foodstuffs of plant origin at the stage of primary production, (ii) feed (quality, safety, supply and use of feed), (iii) plant health and proper use of plant protection products: Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment,
