On the occasion of the rotating EU-presidency held by Cyprus in the second half of 2012, the European Union Reference Laboratories for Pesticides Residues were invited by the Pesticides Residues Laboratory of the State General Laboratory to conduct their annual workshop in Cyprus. The Joint Workshop held on 12-13 November 2012 in Limassol, the Pesticides Residues Laboratory of the State General Laboratory was the local organizer. Main sponsor of the event was the DG SANCO.
All National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) and Official Laboratories (OfLs) providing data for the EU-coordinated control programme participated.
The workshop covered a comprehensive scientific programme mainly focused on the following items: Presentations on new techniques and methods in the field of pesticides analysis and exchange of information for analytical improvements, presentations and discussions of the recent proficiency tests (EUPTs) organized by the EURLs, exchange of information on quality control procedures and good laboratory practice, information on the relevant legislation.
