Upon the recent completion of the EU project “Cyprus National Dietary Survey (EU-Menu)”, which was funded by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the State General Laboratory (SGL) and the Research and Educational Institute of Child Health (REICH) organized a press conference on 22 March 2019 to present the outcome of the harmonized collected food consumption data as well as their future exploitation both in terms of consumption patterns and exposure assessment.

The Minister of Health Mr. Constantinos Ioannou referred to the first official National Dietary Survey of the Cyprus population, through which accurate information on the diet of the Cypriot citizens of all ages, from infants to persons up to 74 years old including pregnant women, were collected. The aim of the survey is the production of high quality harmonised food consumption data for all EU citizens, for dietary risk assessment purposes.

Cyprus belongs to the first 11 EU Member States, which participated and completed this very important project, since EFSA’s aim is all MS to carry out the survey.

The presentations from the two partners of the project and the results of the survey are published below.
