Mr. Dionysis Mavronicolas was born in Paphos in 1958. He has a BSc and an MSc in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), as well as a postgraduate degree in Quantity Surveying.
He worked as a Civil Engineer in the Construction Industry and since 1987 he has been employed in public services. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the Water Development Department and as a Training Officer for the Human Resource Development Authority. During the period 1992- 2010 he served as a Senior Manager for the VAT Service of the Ministry of Finance and was in charge of the VAT team for Cyprus' EU accession negotiations and the harmonisation of VAT legislation. He was a visiting lecturer at the Higher Technical Institute and gave a large number of lectures on VAT legislation.
On the 15th of March 2010 he was appointed as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health. As of this position, he is the chairman of the Food Safety Council and the Drugs Council, as well as a number of other Councils and Committees of the health sector. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Health Insurance Organisation.
