Cyprus Medical Council



    Dr. Angelos Stylianou graduated from the Medical School of the Georg-August University of West Germany in 1993 with the degree of "summa cum laude".

    He practiced in the medical specialty of general surgery under the guidance of the distinguished Professors Peiper and Lepsien and later on under the guidance of Professors Becker and Post at the above mentioned university where he received his specialty of General Surgery.

    He then received the subspecialty of Laparoscopic Surgery after practising at the university surgical clinics in Goettingen, West Germany.

    He was a curator of the laparoscopic surgery department of the above university with teaching duties and an instructor at the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg, Germany.

    His scientific interest is focused on advanced laparoscopic surgery as he is an active member of the German Society for Microinvasive Surgery and on surgical oncology with publications of literature under his membership of the German Cancer Society. He participated in research projects at Goettingen University against breast cancer and was co-founder of both the breast cancer clinic and the obesity center at the above university with a special focus on bariatric surgery procedures.

    In recent years he has trained in robotic surgery.

    He is an active member of the German Society for Microinvasive Surgery (CAMIC), German Cancer Association (CAO) and a member of the European Association for Microinvasive Endoscopy (EAES).

    In Cyprus, under his membership of the Medical Council, he holds the position of Chairman of the European Affairs and International Relations Committee of the
    Pancyprian Medical Association.

    Since 16/2/2016 by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers he has been appointed member of the Cyprus Medical Council and is a scientific associate with teaching duties at the University of Nicosia, St. George's Medical School in surgery.


    Since May 2021, he has been appointed President of the Cyprus Medical Council.
